In a charity T20 match aimed at raising funds for healthcare and education across over 30 nations, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar played a pivotal role by dismissing the opposition’s top-scorer lbw. The game featured renowned players such as Muttiah Muralidaran, Harbhajan Singh, and Makhaya Ntini, with Yuvraj Singh and Tendulkar leading the two sides.
Yuvraj’s team, One Family, batted first, and former England international Darren Maddy opened the innings, contributing a half-century. As the score approached three figures and with only two wickets down, Tendulkar took the field for a couple of overs. Despite conceding 23 runs, he managed to dismiss Maddy, who attempted a pull shot but missed, resulting in an lbw decision.
One World, captained by Yuvraj, was set a target of 181 to win. They successfully chased down the target with four wickets in hand and one ball to spare. South Africa’s Alviro Petersen top-scored with 74, while Tendulkar scored 27 off 16 before being dismissed by Muralidaran.
Organized by the Shri Madhusudan Sai Global Humanitarian Mission, One World One Family views the cricket match not just as a competition but as a “celebration of global unity.” They play for the joy of the game, emphasizing values such as kindness, compassion, and unity that go beyond boundaries. The match took place at the Sai Krishnan Cricket Stadium in Muddenahalli near Bengaluru.
