Australia defeats India in a nail-biting women’s T20 Series

India and Australia women’s cricket teams have locked horns in the second match at D.Y. Patil stadium in Mumbai where Australia snatched the win from the Indian team. It defeated India by 6 wickets with tremendous performances by Ellyse Perry and Alyssa Healy. In this T20 series, the first match was won by India and it crushed Australia’s hope with a 9-wicket win. But, the second match came as a blow to the Indian team as they scored 130 in 20 overs at a loss of 8 wickets. On the other hand, the Australian team scored 133 runs in just 19 overs at a mere loss of 4 wickets. This has enabled Australia to level their series score with a 1 and 1 win with India.

Obviously, the Australian win disheartened Indian spectators and fans. But, Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh played great innings. With this match, Australia’s All-rounder Ellyse Perry became the first Australian and fourth woman cricketer to play smashing 300 international matches. Taking note of the Shreyanka, she started her game with a full toss. Later, it was scooped by Phoebe Litchfield, who had hit a smashing four. Apart from Phoebe, Perry played her innings well too. She pitched and swept through the baller to score excellent runs. Coming back to Phoebe, she had to face 2 dot balls by Pooja and played other balls to score runs.

When Perry’s turn came, she played the ball fiercely to score a four; but, was stopped by Smriti. In fact, she dived to stop the ball from crossing the boundary. Despite having a good start in the match, the Australian team shook in the middle overs because of some poor shots. Later on, Alyssa Perry and Phoebe managed to steal the match from the Indian women’s cricket team. They finished the game one over before the allotted one. When the Indian team started their batting innings, Kim Garth played well enough to give her team the much-needed start. She trapped Indian opener Shefali Verma and forced her to get out on LBW.

In the match, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana scored half-century. They tried to sail the ship to the island, which was hampered by the Australian bowlers. The Indian team was shattered at 54 when 3 players got out with Harmanpreet, who fell to Gardner in the 11th over. Besides this, Smriti Mandhana fell to Annabel Sutherland. Later, the partnership between Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma saved the Indian women’s cricket team from the blush as they wrapped at 130 runs for a loss of 8 wickets. Though, the partnership saved India a bit; but, it could not confirm their place in the winning seat. This does not mean that the Indian team didn’t set any milestones. In fact, Deepti Sharma completed her 1000-run milestone in this T20 cricket match and remained the top scorer.
